DISABLED ACCESS FACILITIES

Disabled Logo

When relocating to new premises in 1995 one of our main considerations ahead of the more recent legislation was for disabled customer access throughout the premises. Disabled access ramps were immediately installed both externally to the shop door and internally between areas of customer access. It is therefore possible for disabled clients to park on our private forecourt and gain wheelchair access throughout the shop.

Sherwood Models is located on the A60 Nottingham to Mansfield trunk road 100m North of its junction with the A6514 Nottingham Ring Road (Grid Reference SK578444). The A60 connects Nottingham to the M1 J29 north of Mansfield, and to the A614 Doncaster and A1/A1M 3.5km north of our premises. The A6514/A52 Nottingham Ring Road circles Nottingham to the east connecting with the major arterial routes A610 Eastwood/Belper and M1 J26, A609 Ilkeston, A52 Derby and M1 J25, and A453 from M1 J24 (East Midlands Airport). To the south the Nottingham Ring Road A52/A6514 joins with the A60 Loughborough, A606 Meltom Mowbray and Leicester via A46 before turning north-east as the A52 Grantham and A46 Newark.

The most prominent landmark on Mansfield Road (A60) is the Vale Public House located opposite the shop on the Nottingham bound side of the road at the traffic light controlled junction with Thackeries Lane and Ribblesdale Road. Approaching from the north the retail parks on both sides of the road with B&Q, Comet, Currys and Sainsbury Homebase are easy to recognize as the road widens out prior to the Ring Road A6514 junction. From the south the shop is 100 metres north of the Ring Road junction with the A60 prior to Kwik Fit.

Public Transport

Most Nottingham City Transport (NCT) buses with Arnold destinations departing from the Old Market Square (Slab Square) in the centre of Nottingham stop outside our premises or within 75 metres (please check with the the drivers prior to boarding). For NCT timetables and routes visit Nottingham City Transport On Line.

Many local and national buses from Bartons and National Express/Stagecoach travelling north from Nottingham, or south from areas such as Sheffield, Mansfield or Doncaster again stop within 75 metres of the shop.

From the South - Nottingham or East via A6514/A52/M1 Ring Road.

Parking is available for those travelling north from the city centre or the Ring Road on our private forecourt. When exiting or crossing the traffic light controlled ring road junction ensure you are in the left lane for the traffic lights at the Ribblesdale Road-Thackaries Lane junction (50 metres). Immediately on passing through these traffic lights pull into the bus layby . Our private shop forecourt is accessed from the bus layby. Use caution when making this manouvre and only complete if it is safe to do so.

From the North via A60 Mansfield or A614/A1/A1M Doncaster.

From the A60/A614 roundabout 3.5km north of Sherwood Models proceed south towards Nottingham on the A60. After 2Km a large traffic light controlled junction with the B600 is reached on the right adjacent to a large Rover dealership. Continue on the A60 past Wickes DIY on the left and the offices of Nottingham County Council (on the former sight of Home Brewery) with Hartwell Ford opposite. Pass through the traffic lights at Daybrook Square (motorcycle dealership on left) where the road widens prior to retail parks on both sides of the road. Sherwood Models is 200 metres on the right at the next traffic lights after the retail parks. If you do not mind a short walk park at the retail parks (car parks on both sides of the road with pedestrian crossing).

It is advised for your return journey that as you pass the County Council offices you move into the right lane at Daybrook Square traffic lights. At the retail park lights turn right with the filter into the car parks for Comet, Currys and Sainsburys Homebase.

For those wishing to park closer to the shop parking is available on your left at the next traffic lights in the Vale Public House car park, the playing field car park on Thackaries Lane (turn left at the lights) and on roads in this area. For the disabled or those wishing to park on our private forecourt, please turn left into Thackeries Lane at the traffic lights. Continue for 0.5km to the roudabout where it is easy to reverse direction and return to the traffic lights. Turn right with the lights and immediately left into the bus layby. Parking on our private forecourt is accessed from the bus layby. Use caution when making this manouvre and only complete if it is safe to do so.
